New years resolutions. Do you have one? Or maybe more?
I don’t have any - most of all because I find myself breaking them - but also because I’m a great believer in long term goals.
After all - changing habits is not an easy task to take on - whether necessary or not. When you become comfortable doing something, and find yourself in a situation where you have to change things and move out of your comfort zone, it hurts!
I don’t think that anyone can make radical changes to their life from one day to another, at least not without some kind of supernatural intervention. What can be done though, and this is what I would encourage you to do if you have come to realise that you need to change things, is to start doing it little by little.
One thing that I’m a gret believer in (that I will discuss in detail later this year), is that you reap what you sow. Other variations of this saying could be you get what you give and do to others what you would have them doing to you. This universal rule goes for anything - also your finances!
If you’re in debt it might seem sensible to spend as much money as you possibly can to pay off your debts. But let’s face it, if you can read this you’re better off that a lot of other people in the world, and helping them by giving of your excess could reap a greater reward for you than by paying your debtors back.
Don’t do one and forget the other. Do both! Then I believe that little by little you will see a positive change to your situation, and you will help someone else to improve theirs.
